Bed & Breakfast.
You can wait and hope your dream comes true or work to realize it step by step. I opted for the latter.
But step by step realizing a plan doesn’t mean you don’t need a little luck too sometimes.
When I had seen almost all houses for sale in the neighborhood and not even one was suitable for a nice Bed & Breakfast, the needed luck finally came to me when a local pharmacist offered to sell me a property, that wasn’t officially for sale, but perfect for the purpose.
With the freshly stamped deeds in my pocket the complete renovation of the building was immediately started. It was completely turned inside out and only the characteristic elements were conserved.
The guests can still observe some authentic stone walls while visiting the B & B.
The new distribution of the building sacrificed one of the five rooms so that four spacious and comfortable rooms were designed and realized, each room with private underfloor heated ensuite bathroom.
By planning in advance and during the renovation I really enjoyed the entire proyect.
Architectly, I found that the rooms should be comfortable, the Coffee Room inviting , the Lures & Tackle Shop well stocked and the kitchen efficient.
In Holland I had a construction company and it was obvious that together with professional friends
I would personally carry out the conversion.
Three large shipping containers were loaded to ship the necessary materials from the Netherlands.
During the following years I regard the enthusiastic reactions of the first guests as the icing on the cake and the greatest reward for two years of hard work.
Many thanks to everyone who helped to realize the Bed & Breakfast, Coffee Room and the Lures & Tackle Shop.
FisHerman is now open since 5 years and many guests return annually which is a very good sign and confirmation of the good service and catches.
