Not so long ago I witnessed how my fishing mate caught a pike of 123 cm length on Lough Derg. A violent wind that made standing up in the boat almost impossible together with the strength of this Irish pike, made the landing of this big boy in the boat a spectacular acrobatic act. Quite impressive, and then you are glad you have good material in your hands.
What I often see is that visitors still bring the wrong material arriving in Ireland.
Fishing with unsuitable rods is not only animal unfriendly when, for example this leads that pikes have to be played to long and it well may ruin the holiday mood.
If you don’t bring the right material we can supply (rent) you fishing rods complete with reel and fishing lines.
Personally I fish every week on Lough Derg and sharing my experience as part of the service. I can for example tell you which lures do it well at that moment and I will show you on the map, hanging on the wall of the shop, the best fishing spots on the lake.
The coffee room
The coffee room of the B&B is the meeting place for fishermen who have just came from the water. And everyone is very welcome to exchange ideas with my guests about pike fishing.
Fishermen who have recently arrived in Killaloe can prepare themselves here for their first day of fishing.
In the coffee room you can always share and hear a great fishing story, or read one of the magazines about fishing on Lough Derg.
And of course look at photos of your predecessors who returned home with nice catches.
